FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this trail suitable for beginners?

No. The Lamay MTB Trail is designed for intermediate to advanced riders with experience in technical terrain, including rock gardens, Inca stairs, and loose surfaces.

2. What is the total descent and altitude?

The trail begins at 4,334 meters (14,219 ft) and drops approximately 1,380 meters (4,528 ft) over 18 km (11.2 mi), making it one of the longest technical descents in the Sacred Valley.

3. Can I combine this ride with another tour?

Yes. Lamay is often combined with the Lares Inca Trail descent to create a full-day downhill experience with two distinct routes.

4. What kind of terrain will I face?

You’ll ride a mix of rocky paths, Inca stairs, narrow trails, loose terrain, switchbacks, and some fast-flowing lines — all requiring control, balance, and line selection.

5. What bike and gear are included?

If you choose the full gear package, we include a dual-suspension MTB (Commencal, Specialized, etc.), full-face helmet, pads (knees and elbows), gloves, and chest protector. All gear is sanitized and inspected before each use.

6. What happens if I crash or can't continue?

A professional guide and support team will assist you. We carry a first-aid kit and offer basic mechanical support. If you need to stop, our transport will meet you at the end point.

7. What is included in the snack or lunch?

You’ll receive a high-protein snack or box lunch with Andean ingredients. Optional: eat at a local restaurant offering trout, lomo saltado or vegetarian quinotto (not included unless arranged).

8. What do I need to bring?

Bring thermal clothing, windbreaker, gloves (if personal), sunglasses, sunscreen, water, and optionally a GoPro. A small backpack is recommended.

9. What is the best season to ride this trail?

Dry season (April to October) offers the best conditions: dry terrain and clear skies. Rides in the rainy season (Nov–March) are possible but depend on trail safety and rider skill.

10. How do I book or ask more questions?

Click “Book now” on this page or contact us directly by WhatsApp or email. We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance, especially if you require full gear.
