THE MYSTERIOUS NASCA LINES - HALF DAY MT. BIKING

SUMMARY

The city of Nasca was founded on 1595 by order of the Virrey Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza, this city was seat of the pre-Hispanic Nasca culture, located in the valley of the tierras blancas river, on the 600m.a.s.l in the South part of Peru. In 1927 the archaeologist Mejía Xespe is informed about the presence into mysterious lines and figures on a flat land in the South coast. In 1939 the American scientist Paul Kosok, gives a special interest to these fabulous lines that remained in anonymity, later the doctor Maria Reiche begins an ample study. She explains to us how these lines were used by the old astronomers Peruvian as if they were a gigantic solar and lunar calendar, sheltered in the sand and in myths of the villagers. In almost 50 kilometers in length and 15 of wide, the drawings and figures known are located like "lines of Nasca", considered by UNESCO "Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity". Nasca also has its aqueducts, constructed thanks to the hydraulic engineering of its old settlers, many archaeological enclosures, very warm climate in all the year. At the moment Nasca is a quiet, tourist city and of very friendly people who invite to make obligatory visit and to do a conventional tourism and adventure tourism, in circuits of 1 up to 3 day, depending of the place and sport that you want to practice.

PROGRAMME

08 / 14 Hrs. We leave from your hotel, we began the tour in our Mt bike by a abandoned flat way towards the aqueducts of Cantayoc, located in the northeast part of the city consist in hydraulic channels constructed by the old settlers of this valley, continuing we will arrive at town of Buena Fe, where will ascend walking to a hill - natural viewpoint and from the stop is possible to appreciate the mysterious lines of the Nasca culture, taking part of the highway that unite with the Cusco city, we will arrive at the archeology site los Paredones, is here where will observe part of passed Nasca culture, divided in 4 parts: Urban, military Administrative, administrative religious and the cemetery. Finishing with the biking tour we will visit the museum of the Nasca ceramics, where we will have a specifies explanation more of the more fine ceramic of the all old Peruvian culture, also we will visit an artisan gold mill, where informal miners will gives to us the best explanation about the process of the minerals, with artisan methods, for this appraised treasure. Finally we will return to hotel and end of the service.
