Downhill On A Volcano's Slopes - Half Day Adventure Tour
For all mountain biking lovers, Peru has one of the largest networks of Inca remains and following the innumerable trails that connect with the most amazing sites in Cusco, Puno, Nasca, Lima, Arequipa, Paracas, passing through remote villages out of the reach of motorised vehicles, and having the chance to get know local Andean communities and learn their amazing life style. Mountain Biking is a relatively new sport in Peru, but new routes are rapidly being opened up, many of which offer excellent opportunities to ride.For more adventurous people, we arrange long biking trips. We are the most knowleadgeable and experienced tour operator providing professional guides and bicycle equipment as well as the necessary supporting 4WD vehicles.
We have cycle trips from 1 up to more days designed to get the most out of your holiday. Beginning in the high Andes and descending into the Amazon jungle, we cycle from altitudes of 5000m to 600m. Biking on the single tracks, dirt roads, humid lands, cold and warm climates, camping or spending in the local’s family houses
Itinerary
We leave at 8am or 1pm from our agency or your hotel with all the bikes and equipment on our private four wheel drive.We leave Arequipa going up to 3100m. The trip takes an hour and half on a paved and dirt road.
Then in Chiguata, which a small village sourrounded by terraces(fileds) an ideal for good pictures, you will be given an explanation of the flora and fauna of this area, a safety orientation regarding the gears and brakes of our bikes, the protective gear, and a description of the tour and of course you will have support with the 4WD nearby. We enjoy this spectacular ride all the way down and then a bit of cross country.


Now by 4WD we go up on Misti Slopes untill 3400m, where we do some downhill, not technical but a good one.
We finish the tour before getting into the city, after of 5 hours of fun and ride.

Rainy Season
December to March. Some days are with blue sky permiting to cycle this zone.
Best Time For Cycling
After rainy season (April to June) the mountains are completely covered with snow and the slopes are covered with new vegetation making it nicer for pictures.
Advice For Bikers
Normal physical conditions and summer clothes, bikers require good acclimatization over 2500m. One day before all the bikers will have meeting with the mountain bike guide at our office or in the hotel, who will give a BRIEFING about this bike trip and also you can check the quality of bikes and gear will be used on this trip.
What You Need To Bring/Carry
- Small backpack
- Rain jacket or poncho, plastic ponchos can be purchased in Arequipa (just in the rain season Dec - April)
- Strong, comfortable and waterproof footwear. Some times sneakers are also useful.
- Sweater and jacket (something warm)
- Sunglasses to protect your eyes from sun and wind
- Hat or cap to protect you from the sunlight
- Sun block (sun protection cream)
- Selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits, etc
- Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries
